Honoring Idit Klein,
President & CEO, Keshet

Give to the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible

When Idit Klein started building Keshet as a local Boston organization 24 years ago, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Jews were largely invisible in American Jewish life.

Together, since Keshet’s inception, we’ve achieved changes that at the time seemed unimaginable. Acceptance and affirmation in thousands of Jewish spaces across the country. Marriage equality. Progress on trans rights. We’ve made the extraordinary, ordinary.

Your gift to the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible ensures that Keshet can face today’s urgent challenges and continue building a thriving Jewish community and a fully just world. Donations can be made until Idit’s last day at Keshet on Thursday, July 31.

An Extraordinary Tribute to Idit

Making the impossible, possible.

Keshet invites you to invest in the next generation of work for equality by giving to the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible. Gifts to the Fund will be accepted until Idit’s last day on Thursday, July 31.

Thank you to the over 400 donors who have generously contributed $2.7M to date! To give toward Keshet’s Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible:

Together, since Keshet’s inception under Idit’s leadership, we’ve achieved changes that at the time seemed unimaginable. Acceptance and belonging in thousands of Jewish spaces. Marriage equality. Progress on trans rights.

Then, as now, Keshet works for the full equality of all LGBTQ+ Jews and our families in Jewish life. We strengthen Jewish communities through education and training, create spaces for LGBTQ+ youth to be proudly and joyously Jewish, and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights nationwide.

Today, we are experiencing an alarming rise in transphobia, homophobia, and antisemitism. The new Administration seeks to legalize anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination and build on the policies that have already hurt so many of our children, families, and friends in states across the country. In the face of these threats, Keshet programs and advocacy efforts are a proven source of support, collective power, and even joy on the long road to full equality.

You can make the extraordinary, ordinary.

Please make a leadership pledge to the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible. Your generosity honors and builds upon Idit’s decades of pioneering leadership, enabling Keshet to meet today’s urgent and increasing needs while continuing to take bold risks for growth and impact.

We invite you to invest in the next generation of work for equality through the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible:

If you would also like to consider making your 2025 annual gift for Keshet’s general programs today, please click here. To see your household giving history, click here

Let’s keep imagining. Let us celebrate our extraordinary selves as we build a future of ordinary dignity, belonging, and joy for LGBTQ+ Jews and our families.

To discuss your Keshet giving, please contact Shana Cohen, Director of Major Gifts, at [email protected].

“As a family with two dads living in Florida, finding inclusive Jewish spaces is more important than ever. Keshet is working every day to make it easier for families like ours, and we are indebted to Keshet and its staff for their advocacy and programming in our state. We have seen firsthand the impact that Keshet has made for our family, and we are proud to support their continued good work.”
LOUIS AND LANE ROSNER
Boca Raton, Florida

Raising Is, a nonbinary trans-Thai-Jewish kid in Florida, has been joyful and challenging. Keshet has been a place of comfort, inspiration and safety for Is from Shabbaton participation to team leader work. Emotional and intellectual support of Keshet guides countless LGBTQ+ teens and families towards acceptance and fulfilment. We are so thankful for Keshet.”
VARISA PERLMAN
New York, New York

“At eleven years old, our child, who had attended URJ Camp Eisner since she was seven, formally transitioned to her affirmed name and gender. This was more than a decade ago, and it was the first time an overnight Jewish summer camp had faced such a request. Keshet worked with camp leadership to prepare a welcoming environment. Later that year, The Forward published ‘How one transgender camper helped shape the entire Reform movement’. That camper was Hannah. Keshet made it possible.”

FAQs: Extraordinary and Idit Klein Fund for The Impossible

How can I support Keshet’s future?

The Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible is a historic, one-time fundraising initiative honoring Idit Klein’s 24 years of visionary leadership at Keshet. This fund ensures that Keshet has the resources to meet this urgent moment and can continue to take bold risks in the pursuit of full LGBTQ+ equality in Jewish life.

We invite you to make a meaningful investment in Keshet’s work by making a special, one-time gift to the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible to honor Idit’s legacy and propel Keshet into the future.

The Fund pledge form also includes the option to renew your annual gift in 2025 to Keshet to ensure we have the resources to continue our essential work every day.

Your support ensures that LGBTQ+ Jews and our families can live with pride, dignity, and belonging in Jewish life and beyond. Thank you for standing with us.

What will gifts to the Fund accomplish?

From the very beginning, under Idit’s leadership, Keshet has achieved victories that once seemed impossible—LGBTQ+ inclusion in Jewish institutions, marriage equality, and advancements in trans rights. Today, we face an alarming rise in transphobia, homophobia, and antisemitism. The new administration is actively working to dismantle LGBTQ+ protections, putting our community, especially our youth, at great risk.

A gift to the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible is a vital investment in Keshet’s future, allowing us to seize bold opportunities for growth and impact while sustaining a strong core of programs and infrustructure.

Your investment in the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible honors our founding leader, sets up Keshet’s next CEO for success, and ensures that Keshet remains an unwavering force for dignity, belonging, and justice.

How is my 2025 annual gift different from my Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible gift?

The Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible is a one-time, special campaign designed to enable continued bold growth and impact while securing Keshet’s future. Gifts to the annual fund sustain Keshet’s ongoing impact each year.

We invite you to renew your typical annual gift in 2025 and to make an additional donation toward Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible as a separate and special, one-time pledge that can be paid over multiple years.

Your 2025 annual donation provides the critical operating support that fuels our day-to-day work. It sustains our core programs, including:

  • Education & Training for Jewish institutions, ensuring LGBTQ+ inclusion in synagogues, schools, JCCs, and camps
  • LGBTQ+ Youth Programs including Shabbatonim (weekend retreats) for teens and also for LGBTQ+ Jews of Color
  • Advocacy & Organizing to protect LGBTQ+ rights
I'm in! How do I donate?

Pledge your leadership gift  toward the Idit Klein Fund for the Impossible at www.keshetonline.org/impossiblefund.

Or to make a donation today in Idit’s honor, click here.

Donations will be accepted to this special fund until Idit’s last day on July 31, 2025.
