Today marks the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. Resistance fighters, vastly outnumbered by Nazis, refused to surrender even though they knew the odds were against them. Their bravery and determination remind us that resistance is always possible.
It has been hard to show up as a trans person when my identity is being vilified across the country. And yet, each time that I bravely assert who I am, I remember that I am doing so on the foundation my ancestors laid for me.
The struggle for justice and equality is far from over. May we remember those who came before us and harness their strength as we fight for our future.
