Jackie Maris is a queer, South African Pisces with a love for education and community-building. She has worn various facilitator hats as a madricha (camp counselor) and Rosh Chinuch (Head of Education) with Netzer, as a cheder teacher in Cape Town, as co-chair of the Limmud Conference in Johannesburg, and currently as Keshet’s Chicago Education & Training Manager, working for LGBTQ belonging in Jewish spaces.

Before Keshet, Jackie worked as Education Coordinator with Roundabout Theatre Company, overseeing the theatre’s intern and apprentice programs for early-career Broadway professionals. She also worked in Juilliard’s admissions department, supporting their audition season, while pursuing her Masters degree in Arts Administration at New York University. Prior to this, she completed her undergrad in Anthropology, History, and Gender Studies at the University of Cape Town.

When she’s not working, Jackie sings with the Windy City Treble Choir, volunteers with Midwest Books to Prisoners (mailing books to incarcerated folks) and collects zines on fat liberation (shoutout to Etsy).
