LGBTQ Jewish Groups Condemn Invasion of Ukraine and Stand in Solidarity with the LGBTQ Jewish Community

February 25, 2022

By Idit Klein in partnership with LGBTQ Jewish Groups

As leaders of LGBTQ Jewish organizations, we condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine and stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Jewish and LGBTQ communities face particularly acute vulnerabilities. They have historically been marginalized and continue to face ongoing discrimination. We are deeply concerned that LGBTQ people overall and LGBTQ Jews, in particular, will be subject to scapegoating in what may become a vast humanitarian crisis.

We call for an immediate end to the Russian military action and support those who are working to end this unfolding nightmare. We pray for the safety of all and remind everyone that the needs of the LGBTQ Jewish community in Ukraine are unique and should not be overlooked.
