Miami, FL — November 6, 2025 — Jon Cohen, Director of Community Mobilization for Keshet, the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ Jewish organization, said:

We’re incredibly disappointed to see that the Supreme Court decided to uphold the administration’s policy to bar passport applicants from receiving documents that reflect who they are. This ruling seeks to create unnecessary and dangerous restrictions on the travel and freedom of transgender, intersex, and nonbinary people, and will create unnecessary additional labor for our already under-resourced government workers. As Jewish people and members of the LGBTQ+ community, we have seen how hostile policies like this lead to harassment, further discrimination, and even violence.

We stand by our LGBTQ+ legal advocates and partners who are continuing to challenge this policy in the courts. All of us at Keshet are committed to keep fighting for a world where we all belong, where our identities are affirmed  by our documents, and where our participation in public life isn’t restricted by misinformation and a lack of equal protections.
