“We at Keshet are dedicated to creating a world where all people, no matter their gender, are valued and protected, and can live with dignity, safety, and equal rights. We are outraged at the U.S. Supreme Court’s failure to protect the rights of Americans. Our Jewish tradition teaches us that we are all created B’tzelem Elohim, in the image of the Divine. Ruling on West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox earlier today, a majority of the justices decided to unfairly exclude a group of girls from participating in school sports with their friends, by upholding bans on transgender athletes’ participation in West Virginia and Idaho. Trans girls, and indeed all trans people, are vital members of our communities.”
About Keshet
Keshet envisions a world in which all LGBTQ+ Jews and our families can live with full equality, justice, and dignity. By strengthening Jewish communities and equipping Jewish organizations with the skills and knowledge they need to make all LGBTQ+ Jews feel welcome, we work to ensure the full equality of all LGBTQ+ Jews and our families in Jewish life. We also create spaces in which all queer Jewish youth feel seen and valued and advance LGBTQ+ rights nationwide. Visit www.keshetonline.org to learn more.
