Southwest Education & Training Manager
she/her/hers

Kachel Kohnhorst is Keshet’s Southwest Education and Training Manager. She is excited to be starting in this role to combine her interest in Jewish Education and her training as a public school teacher.

Kachel is originally from Houston but has lived all over the great state of Texas (Houston, The Woodlands, Denton, Fort Worth, Waco, and Dallas). She has also lived in Phoenix and Denver. Her favorite part about being a Texan is going to rodeos and eating barbeque. She most recently was the Assistant Director of Family Retreats and Staff Engagement at the URJ Greene Family Camp. Her family retreats had the specific goal of introducing Texas Jewish families who were marginally connected to the Jewish community to other Jewish Families with kids their age. She also was a Texas public school teacher and taught 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English in Houston and Fort Worth. Kachel spent 10 summers working at the URJ Greene Family Camp. She loves writing unique programs and spent years doing so as a counselor, then unit head, then staff experience manager.

Kachel desires to help the Southwest grow into a shining place of LGBTQ+ inclusion. Kachel, her partner Rachael, and her hairless cat named Lox are looking forward to what their futures hold!
