Have you heard about the Equality Act? This federal bill would protect LGBTQ folks from discrimination and ensure LGBTQ civil and human rights are federal law. As an Ohio resident, you have a key role to play. In the state of Ohio and 28 other states, employers, landlords, business owners and more are legally allowed to discriminate against LGBTQ people. They can deny housing or a job or all kinds of services to anyone for their sexual orientation or gender identity. If the Equality Act passes, LGBTQ Ohioans — and LGBTQ Americans as a whole — will receive the legal protections we all need.
