As we near November, candidates will continue to use LGBTQ+ rights and people as political bargaining chips in an attempt to win. We expect to see even more attacks on our rights from right-wing extremists as they continue to implement Project 2025, even though the research has made it clear: anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination is unpopular and does not represent the electorate’s values (PRRI 2025). As people of faith, we must meet this moment with the truth: religion and LGBTQ+ equality are not incompatible. With local and state seats up for grabs and important measures on ballots across the country, we cannot sit out this election; As the Talmud teaches, we cannot stand idly by when we see injustice. We must go to the polls and vote with clarity.
