Voting is a fundamental right. And every voter deserves the chance to cast their ballot without undue obstacles or challenges to their identity. Our Tzedek Tzedek Tir’VOTE! campaign mobilizes communities to ensure that every LGBTQ+ Jew and ally has the resources and support they need to vote.
For trans people, even the act of voting is made more difficult because of increasingly strict voter ID laws. In many states, transgender and gender-expansive people often face disproportionate barriers to getting updated ID documents reflecting their current appearance, names, and genders. In states with strict voter ID laws, particularly those that require photo ID, this often results in transgender and gender-expansive people being turned away at the polls.
Whether you’re a community leader, an advocate, or simply passionate about making a difference, join us to learn insights from the trans community on why voting matters, ways to support LGBQ+ and trans individuals in their voting efforts, and how to galvanize your community to say that Trans Jews belong now and always.
With only a couple weeks until election day, we’re taking action for justice and to protect each other. Vote like our lives depend on it—because they do.
Facilitated by Rabbi Eliana Kayelle (they/them), Bay Area Education & Training Manger, and Rabbi Micah Buck (he/they), Director of Education & Training
