Building a physical sukkah isn’t always accessible, and finding an inclusive community can often feel daunting. This Sukkot, join rabbinical student Nasiyah Isra-Ul for a virtual gathering where we build a sanctuary together from wherever you are. Through a queer Jewish lens, we will recontextualize the concept of Ushpizin (sacred guests) to invite in the ancestors, icons, and trailblazers whose sacrifices made our own queer existence possible. Using art and music as our tools, we will collaboratively weave together a spiritual sukkah grounded in shared history and creative expression. Together, we will honor the past, ground ourselves in the present, and invoke the powerful ancestral presence we want to carry into the year ahead. Come as you are to sing niggunim, DIY craft, reflect, and help construct a Sukkat Shalom (shelter of peace) rooted in queer liberation and love.
