I am a rabbi and proud mom of two queer kids who has made radical welcome a part of my career since the beginning. Long before I had children, I was working pastorally with LGBTQIA+ folks as an intern at Congregation Beth Simchat Torah (CBST) and officiating at queer lifecycle events of members of the congregation I founded in Philadelphia (that congregation was about 50% LGBTQIA+ members at the time and has grown since). I have written liturgy for congregational settings praying for LGBTQIA rights and given sermons about the imperative to support our transgender siblings under attack. I continue to learn and grow my skills and to bring these ideas to my congregation in NYC. We have transformed SAJ from an "inclusive" space to a space of radical welcome, seeing and celebration. As a rabbi, I love to work with queer individuals and couples to create meaningful and unique lifecycle experiences and love to connect with the trans youth community in particular. In addition these things, my rabbinate has centered social justice, especially focused on the issues of housing/homelessness, racial justice, reproductive justice and immigrant rights. My belief that btselem elohim (that everyone is created in the image of the Divine) guides my work from the most basic to the most significant tasks.
I officiate at interfaith weddings and baby namings where there is a commitment to having a Jewish household and would be happy to speak to people or have them connect with some of the folks I have worked with for testimonials.
