We celebrate diversity and are committed to ensuring that everyone has a seat at the table, no matter their background or needs. A diverse community strengthens and enriches us as individuals and as a collective. We aim to be a home for everyone, including interfaith families, members of the LGBTQ+ community, skeptics and believers, Jews of Color, people with disabilities, every type of family, single people, older people, younger people, Talmud scholars, newcomers to Jewish learning, and spiritual seekers. Shomrei takes a stand and affirms that the Torah does not stigmatize homosexuality. Codified in a "Targum" (Translation) our accepted meaning of specific biblical passages, which have been used to harm generations of people, are not our community's understanding of the text.
Our synagogue community is a vibrant Jewish collective where we renew ourselves and one another, reaching outward to help build a world rooted in justice, peace, and purpose. About Shomrei Emunah Our community weaves us all together in an intimate environment as we observe an egalitarian, vibrant Judaism. Balancing openness and traditional practice in a variety of ways, we renew and sustain connections to our heritage through learning and ritual. We celebrate and share the cycles of life, and seek to nurture one another, our neighbors, Israel, and the world at large with our energy, time, and acts of loving kindness. We aspire to be a beacon of social consciousness and action. We embrace tradition and modernity — a community woven of many Jewish backgrounds and experiences.
