About

Every member is a wonderful addition to our warm and vibrant community. We are fiercely inclusive, and aim to be a welcoming place for Jews of all types and backgrounds, and of various religious and political philosophies. LGBTQ+, convert, intermarried, agnostic…. you are WELCOME. We aim to be diverse as the Jewish people itself. We are currently working with Keshet's Shivyon project to re-draft portions of our by-laws and other foundational documents to better align them with our established culture of radical acceptance. Our leadership includes several members of the LGBTQ+ community, including our rabbis, and we have had a majority of queer-identifying rabbis over the years.

For over four decades, Congregation Am Haskalah has offered a home to Jews of the Lehigh Valley looking for a place to belong. We offer a creative, participatory approach to Judaism, blending tradition with innovation. With regular lay-led and rabbi-led services, community events, and continuing education for all types of learners, we hope to make space for all our members and visitors to participate in our congregational life.
