About

Cantor Sheri Allen is the mother of three adult LGBTQ+ children. puck glass, a 3rd year Rabbinical Student at the Jewish Theological Seminary, identifies as trans and nonbinary. Makom Shelanu was created to be an openly affirming, inclusive space for LGBTQ+ Jews in Ft. Worth and Tarrant County. We use gender-sensitive language in our siddur and when we call people to the Torah; we celebrate and acknowledge events on the LGBTQ calendar; we advocate for LGBTQ+ equality in public meetings, op-eds, petitions, and in the media; and we have forged strong relationships with interfaith partners who are also LGBTQ+ affirming; and we've created programming and special events focusing on LGBTQ issues.

We are a fairly new congregation - November will mark three years in existence, and we are proud of the work we have done and the community we've created. When we say "All Are Welcome" we really mean it!
