About half the membership of Havurat Shalom identifies as LBGTQ+. It has been a welcoming community for decades. We use egalitarian language in the Hebrew liturgy, half the references to both God and the community are in the feminine in the Hebrew. We have gender neutral language in the Hebrew to call someone up for an aliya and are working on expanding Hebrew gender neutral language for more situations. Havurat Shalom never wants money to be a barrier - so the High Holidays are free, and we always welcome folks regardless of ability to pay or donate.
The reason the training and written policy questions here are answered no is because Havurat Shalom is a very small community, almost entirely run by member volunteers, and many of the formalities of a synagogue just don't apply to us.
