Leading up to Pride Month this year, Keshet received so many requests for our staff to speak at synagogues, JCCs, day schools, Jewish federations, and other community organizations — so many that soon our staff were all fully booked — an excellent problem to have! 

In a time of continued escalating attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, it was heartening to see those asks come rolling in. It was also extraordinary that many more Jewish communities celebrated Pride without turning to us for resources.

And now, nearly two weeks after the end of Pride Month 2023, we’re proud to look back on a Pride season of many meaningful and exuberant moments in American Jewish life. Here are just a few glimpses of Pride celebrations in Jewish communities around the country.

We’re also proud to amplify the voices of our activists and leaders who do the work, every single day of the year, that makes it possible for all of us to live with pride and dignity. Recently, a few parents of trans kids wrote a letter urging Jewish communities to join them in fighting back against the assaults on their kids’ fundamental rights. In a short time, that letter has drawn over 2,000 signatories, 400 of whom are parents with trans or nonbinary kids. Take a look, add your support, and help spread the word, particularly to community leaders.

With hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ laws proposed this year alone and critical losses in the courts, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment in history. Pride in June is glorious, but we need to honor Pride every single day of the year if we want to live in a world where all of us can thrive.
