Queer and LGBTQ Jews are at that intersection, of course!
“At the Intersection of Queer and Jewish” is Keshet’s new zine that will feature content created by and for LGBTQ Jewish youth and young adults – and we want you to submit your creations! We’re seeking written pieces (like essays and poetry), visual art (digital and traditional), and even videos and music from creators between the ages of 13 and 24. These creations will ideally be related to your experience being Jewish and LGBTQ, but participants shouldn’t feel limited to just those experiences. We wish to especially uplift the experiences and art of Jews of Color, Jews by choice, disabled Jews, and Jews from multifaith backgrounds. Our goal is to celebrate all of the creative youth in our community by featuring them within this zine.
We will be accepting submissions for the zine starting June 1, 2022 until July 31, 2022. During this time, Keshet youth will also be hosting various workshops for youth to gather and share the creations they are working on for the zine and receive feedback from their peers. All youth who submit to the zine will receive a free copy once it is published. Published creators will receive a Visa gift card or a check in the amount of $54.
These teens and young adults envisioned what this project would look like and are facilitating creative workshops throughout the summer! After all submissions have been received, this group will organize and put together all of the pieces for the final edition of the zine.
