Rabbi Gordon Tucket’s responsum argues the need to expand the halakhic argument to better reconcile Judaism and homosexuality, and ultimately fully normalize gays and lesbians in the Conservative movement. The central part of the paper is the setting forth of an alternative, and more expansive vision of a methodology of halakhic practice, which affirms the potential normative power of sacred narratives (aggadah). Finally, the paper uses the vision of enhanced halakhic practice to call for the normalization of gays and lesbians.
