Even ma’asu habonim haita lerosh pinah – The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone” Psalm 118:22
Pride Shabbat is at the heart of New York City’s Pride celebrations! Come early to get a seat, CBST’s Pride Shabbat service is the place to sing Halleluyah and celebrate our heritage as LGBTQ Jews. Mazel tov, and Happy Pride! Services will be led by Rabbis Sharon Kleinbaum and Rachel Weiss, Music Director Joyce Rosenzweig, Judy Ribnick, and the CBST Community Chorus. This event will include ASL interpretation – email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve seating in proximity to interpreters or for lip reading. NO RSVP NECESSARY – all are welcome!
The core of CBST’s religious life is our weekly Kabbalat Shabbat service.
Service leadership at the Chelsea location is shared among congregants, Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum and Rabbi Rachel Weiss, our Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Interns, and our Cantorial student. Joyce Rosenzweig, our music director and pianist, and the CBST Community Chorus participate in the service on a regular basis. Led using CBST’s own prayer book, this warm service incorporates Hebrew prayers, English readings, and both traditional and modern songs. A drash is delivered every week by one of the Rabbis, an intern, a member of the congregation, or on occasion, by a special guest. The kiddush that follows each service provides an opportunity to meet new people and connect with old friends.
